Personality:
Most people take one look at Uryuu Ishida: his snow-white, well-ironed, self-tailored business shirt; crisp, navy blue slacks; long, well-combed, well groomed hair; and the focus in his piercing blue eyes behind his rimless rectangular glasses; and get overwhelmed by his frigid demeanor. Ishida's a loner, and anyone that wishes to know him has to break a lot of ice (and bear his almost inappropriately dramatic eloquence) to do so.

One of the ways to get past the ice, and arguably the most dangerous, is to get cornered by the school bullies, or any other hostile party. Uryuu Ishida lives by a sort of chivalric code for members of the Ishida family. He always acts on the side of justice, defending those who are too weak to defend themselves.

When in combat, Ishida will only do what is needed to force his opponent to yield. A verbal suggestion of his adversary's impending defeat usually proves successful. Should his opponent choose to ignore his warning and attack, Ishida will finish the fight quickly to prevent harm from coming to innocent bystanders. Most people that fight Ishida are fortunate enough to walk or run away defeated; only the more foolish offenders warrant knockouts, and serious assailants suffer broken bones. Only the strongest and most deplorable enemies require the use of lethal force, and even then Ishida will only cripple them; to date Ishida has never killed another human. Demons and other evil supernatural forces get entirely different treatment; he simply exorcises them without question.

The other way to get past the ice is by melting it; shy little Ishida shrinks around the opposite sex. It's an incredible kind of reaction: inexperience around women plus old-fashioned idealistic chivalric code catalyzed by a need to look cool and dramatic results in a stammering, pliable, and most especially nervous Ishida, something many unscrupulous (and unwitting) girls have used to their advantage to widely varying degrees of success.

In any case, Uryuu holds his friends close, and will stand with them against any odds.

Character Powers
Unlike the vast majority of BFMI students whose magical abilities are powered mostly by the use of their inner spiritual power, Ishida's powers rely much more on the use of environmental spirit energy. Thus, while the BFMI instructors can certainly provide information on how to hold spiritual energy together, few of them are likely to know the finer details of acquiring spiritual energy from the environment. Ishida has to research and experiment with the limited theory behind the use of environmental spirit energy to progress in a timely manner with his peers.

Ishida is already highly experienced in the use of his Quincy powers; at the age of 14 he began performing exorcisms with his grandfather. He has an aerial fighting style, preferring to jump/hirenkyaku onto buildings and into trees to gain the high ground, and thus an advantageous position from which to rain spirit arrows.

Ishida's strongest trait by far is intelligence. Although formidable in combat, if Ishida has enough time to piece together a plan, he essentially secures victory for his companions. However, he doesn't handle as well if he gets caught off guard.

Athletically, Ishida is more agile than most, and can jump off walls with relative ease. He can expend spirit energy to enhance his athletic ability, allowing him to jump at most thirty feet into the air. He isn't as strong or as tough as most fighters, however.

Ishida has learned basic Hirenkyaku, a high speed movement technique. Although using Hirenkyaku is a considerable exertion for him (he can only use it four times straight before totally draining himself), Ishida can move 30 feet in any direction in the time it takes to make a single step.


Magical Companion:

Ishida will choose a 6 inch tall female white Phoenix that he names Kojaku. Kojaku isn't terribly powerful, but she is smart, incredibly smart, to the point that she perches next to Ishida's papers and pecks at his calculation errors. She is also observant and will warn Ishida of any dangers that he might overlook by flapping her wings wildly. She's playful, and loves to retrieve objects for him. Ishida will train her in wind powers, and will also train her to be a catalyst for spirit energy.

Conductor:

Basic - Ishida wears a cord on his right wrist from a palm-sized, four-armed, slender-armed cross hangs. When Ishida is channeling spirit energy to perform Hirenkyaku, spirit energy aided jumps, or spells, the cross will glow in a faint blue-white light.

Risen - Should Ishida decide to summon his bow, its limbs will sprout out of the arms of the cross and appear ethereal. If he is wearing a scattering gauntlet, the limbs will sprout out of holes supplied in the wrist of the gauntlet and appear solid. Either way, the bow will manifest itself in a unique, complex shape every time it is summoned. However, all the bows generated have the same blue on white color scheme. The cross and scattering gauntlet will hold a pool of energy proportional to Ishida's strength, which fully replenishes itself within a second. One full shot from Ishida's bow will drain exactly a tenth of the available energy in the pool. Ishida can release rapid shots, but after 10 consecutive shots each arrow will do no damage, leaving only scorch marks in its impact points. With the scattering glove, Ishida can also shoot simultaneous arrows, but the power available to a single shot is divided among the number of arrows Ishida fires.

Divine Punishment-Ishida knows that he can remove his glove and gain access to an infinite pool of readily available spirit energy that he is free to use without restriction for two hours. However, Ishida, or anyone for that matter, can't handle that much spirit energy. If he doesn't die from that suicidal exposure to energy, Ishida's body will seal itself away from it forever. To date, there is no way to unseal a body sealed in this method. Obviously, Ishida will use this only as a very last resort, and even then he is seeking to develop a less damaging form.



Magical Strength: Shinigami. Ishida has extensive experience using his channeling cross and other Quincy artifacts; he can naturally craft the complex spirit weaves required to perform spiritually aided jumps and Hirenkyaku, as well as summon a solid bow with the help of scattering gloves.

Agility: Lesser Shinigami. Ten foot jumps and wall bouncing isn’t that hard for him at all.

Energy Reserve: Talented Human-Lesser Shinigami. He has trouble drawing enough energy from the environment to maintain the complex and taxing weaves required for continuous use of his spells. Even introductory conventional magic taught at BFMI, which requires much more of the caster’s personal energy, will exhaust Ishida after one or two castings.

Vitality: Talented Human. The only reason why Ishida can handle wounds in combat is because he has fought these creatures before. Ishida relies on his agility to avoid getting hit. Don’t expect him to take sword wounds or even basic to mid level destructive spells and still stay standing.

Strength: Average Human. Without his channeling cross, he’s not that much of a fighter.

Special Movement: Wall Jumping: Ishida can jump off and land on walls naturally.

Sense spirit energy - Ishida can innately sense the presence of powerful/unnatural reiatsu in a mile radius. Ishida can expend 1 EP to determine its location.
